Using Google Social Search to your advantage is as simple as making your content available and making your content sharable (or +1-able if you will!)

The first thing you’ll want to do is post your content on Google+,  always, even if you don’t have too many friends on Google+, or you feel you don’t really use it yet personally. Sharing your content on Google+ is a great way for Google to know that you endorse or care about the content you are posting. Once you share a link, either from your personal website or one that you actually think is quality, it instantly ranks higher than (most) of the  rest of the results for select keywords the link is relevant to–this greatly increases your presence in your “Circles” on Google+.

Now of course, this is just the start. It’s easy to get a single vouch for your website–anyone can share their own content. The trick to getting to the top with social search is to get the most shares/vouches on Google. The easiest way to do this is to add the Google +1 button to your website. The +1 button is a wonderful tool because it’s a simple and easy tool for people to say “Hey, this link rocks!” without having to leave the page, have a popup in their face, or anything like that. Just a one click solution to promote your favorite links.

Google has made it ridiculously easy to embed this technology into your website. All you have to do is add the following line of text on your website. If you are using WordPress and want it to be added onto every page, try adding into your sidebar, header, or footer for easy site-wide access:

Once you add this little snippit to your website, you’ll be all set to go–it’s literally that easy! Too easy not to do! Now users will be able to +1 your website, giving them the ability to push your rankings higher in social search above their own content.

Between you sharing your content and your visitors sharing your content, you’ll be mastering the search results in no time. The key is to engage and encourage engagement on Google+.
